The Reykjanes geothermal power plant in the extreme SW-corner of Iceland produces about 100 megawatts of electricity by harnessing the energy of geothermal steam. It is the smallest of five major geothermal power plants in Iceland. To the left is the Reykjanes lighthouse on top of the hill Valahnjúkur. In the distance on the horizon is Eldey, a 77 m high rock that is home to the largest gannet colony in the world.
