Rock painting at Emazarouj
Two herdsmen are driving their cattle in another cave painting from approximately 8,000 years ago, when this area of the Sahara was composed of grassland with flowing rivers. The ochre colouring on the cattle has persisted longer than the white colouring (based on milk mixed with powdered acacia seeds), giving an abstract feel to the design.
