Horft í Sandvík

A view down towards the small bay of Sandvík in E-Iceland (top left). It was the easternmost populated area in Iceland from settlement until it was abandoned around 1950. There were five farms in Sandvík around 1900, living mostly off sheep farming and small-scale fisheries. The area is now uninhabited, but popular with reindeer hunters and hikers.
