Beacon #10, Summit NJ, 2/3 replica IMG_7374

In 1777 Gen Washington ordered a series of fire beacons and cannons to be installed from New York to New Jersey. They were used to alarm local militias and continental troops of British invasion. The Summit at Beacon Hill allowed the New Jersey patriots to keep an eye on the British and German troops who had taken possession of New York City and who might try to attack Washington's troops by coming through the Hobart Gap.
