The “Bull bar” was a piece of metal bar I added through holes I drilled in the top of the chrome over-riders added by Volkswagen to this model. We could hang our water bag off it or Trog lamps. The carbide lamps tended to keep gassing off after some caving so drove back to camp faith them hanging off the bull bar. I also Added and insect screen at some point before the Perth trip. In early 1965 Mary drove the VW out to meet me at Cocklebiddy for Christmas at Twilight Cove. See other images here. We later drove in early Jan '66 to Adelaide where she stayed with her Grandmother while I returned to Sydney to collect more of my things for my move back to Perth. (We were just reminiscing over this the other morning…) I returned to Adelaide with my Mother, and a new driving light I had fixed. Fitted a couple of new shock absorbers and Mary and I returned across the Nullarbor to Perth…. Mum returned to Sydney, we became engaged in April and married in Dec. 1966….
