A failed tsunami barrier wall along the coast of Kamaishi in Iwate prefecture. Despite being 15-20 meters tall, these concrete walls were unable to contain the incoming tsunami. Although the barrier provided a false sense of security, many residents thankfully still took heed of the alarms and evacuated to higher ground.
