me in Mammoth Cave crack Mar 1964 Oolite Cavern

This was part of Glenn's dig, in search of the Woolly Rhinosceros Cave. This was not so much as a dig as a solid crack, in the Oolite Cavern, near the dig, that I volunteered to descend into. It was blocked by a jambed rock a few metres down, it got impossibly tight anyway, but sitting in the quiet, waiting for my breathing and pulse to quieten down, I could hear the Lower Level River, gurgling below in the distance. One of my first trips into Mammoth was with Ian Williams on a trip to the Northern Rivers Extension. We were in the cave for more than 12hrs. Many flatteners and squeezes to negotiate to the end. There is a story here in an old SUSS bulletin. suss.caves.org.au/bulletins/bulls/v0110/Newsletter1-5.pdf see the world's deepest caves in the NGM National Geographic Magazine ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0402/online_extra.html They are fitter than I was! We spread some of Glenn's ashes near here in Glenn's dig on the 8th April, 2000 see \\WDMYCLOUD\Public\VHS videos\Glenns Ashes Jenolan and posted to ACE Gigs and Weekends away on YouTube, 14/05/19
