Badwater Salt Flats, Death Valley

☆☆☆ EXPLORED 26-05-2018 ☆☆☆ Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park, California, is the lowest point in North America (86 m below sea level). Significant rainstorms flood the valley bottom periodically, covering the salt pan with a thin sheet of standing water. However, newly formed lakes do not last very long. Repeated freeze and evaporation cycles gradually push the thin salt crust into hexagonal honeycomb shapes. Many thanks for your visits / comments / faves!
