Stóra-Dímon is a small grassy mount (178 m) in S-Iceland surrounded by a level sandy plain, formed by sediment carried by the glacial river Markarfljót. Close by is another smaller mount called Litla-Dímon; the names are believed to be derived from Latin ("di montes", meaning "two mounts"). Despite the small size, the view from Stóra-Dímon is excellent.
