Malcolm" We met her a couple of times in 1965 and 1967, and saw her paintings, like this, of insect and farm life, and other studies of nature and scenes on the #Nullarbor around Balladonia, Nanambinia, Booanya, to Israelite Bay. Survey a few times in 1965, and met Amy. And her sons I think, and maybe a husband, it is not clear from my diary. Just looked up my diary and were we met Mrs Crocker on Mon. 12th July 1965 and chatted for a couple of hours... Then we drove to Booanya Rock and then on to a camp at Condabina Rock, if that is the correct spelling. I have some old Cadastral maps of the area. On the 13th July, we were camped at Condabina where we replaced a main leaf spring on the Land Rover, (amongst many lttle problems, breaking fan belt, and fuel line, loose wheel nuts), David, the Geologist, went off rock hunting and left me to some washing in the rain, shooting rabbits, and looking for a duck to shoot, when Mr. & Mrs Crocker popped in for a chat. I'm afraid I was not aware of the significance of the history and what I was seeing when I was there as a 21 year old lad... She showed us 100s of paintings of insects, wildlife, camel trains to Israelite Bay, and told us a few stories of life on a remote Nullarbor station. Canberra was covered in six inches of snow which stayed on the ground for a couple of days.
