Thanks to Jeanette D. for scanning these slides of John's. I got a mouldy copy of this from Susan, 14th July 2023, it was too dirty to bother a scan as I had this clean copy. The mouldy one didn't have the dramatic scratch across it though. See the Album here.. flic.kr/s/aHBqjAMbuF I can't remember John on this trip and whose slide this was! He is mentioned here and there in my 1965 & 1966 diary along with "Leslie", Sue Thomas on the 6th Jan 1966.. That is my old VW in the background, and I will check on who is in the photo with others.. see image below and for location. Mary must be around here somewhere, and Dave and Brian Lowry. I just found the reference to this event in my diary of 1st Jan 1966. today 02-01-16. I will laboriously work through the diary during 2016, enjoying all the details of our growing romance and eventual marriage in Dec... Peter Cook from WASG, Rick and Dick and details of being Sherpas to carry gear into the camp in Mullamullang next day with Mary. We climbed and trekked to Blister Lake, White Lake and the "Drop Off". It was a long trek to the camp, left Rick ( www.flickr.com/photos/usarick ) and Mad Dog to camp there for a week, and chatted later over the phone line the Expedition had rigged up! (This would take for ever to transcribe all the details from my diary to here, it may never get done! I will just leave the diary in my will to the National Library, to be opened after the 30 year embargo, like the Cabinet Papers!) I was just finishing up the field season with the GSWA, and then would drive Mary to Adelaide, where we would part for a couple of weeks and I mad the mad drive to Sydney, burning out the engine on the way out of Balranald! I was towed to Hay, (11th Jan), put some stiffer oil in and see the rest of the story somewhere else here.... www.flickr.com/photos/spelio/2384896974/ www.xconomy.com/national/2013/05/31/11-reasons-why-flickr...
