Alpine desert

I took this photo on a hiking tour between Trockener Steg and Schwarzsee above Zermatt (the so-called Matterhorn Glacier Trail). I would assume that some decades ago the vast scree and boulder fields were covered by a glacier. Thank you for your visits / comments / faves!
